People who are very insecure because they have been terribly hurt, felt unloved growing up, or have been abused, often find it hard to stand up against further debasement; thus allowing for more pain and heartache in their lives.
"So watch yourselves.
'If your brother or sister sins against you,
rebuke them;
and if they repent,
forgive them.'"
Luke 17:3 (NIV)
It is God's will to forgive others, but it is not God's will to allow someone to continually hurt or abuse us. We are told by God to watch ourselves and not be afraid to rebuke a brother or sister who sins against us.
