The bed-and-breakfast we stayed at in Sedona has a fish pond in the side-yard which two turtles had claimed as their home, sweet home. The smaller and newest resident was very shy. He would slip into the water whenever I came near with my camera. But the bigger one was willing to pose for me. I thought the picture below was the best of this turtle.
A turtle's shell is like the body armour that soldiers or law enforcement officers wear. It protects the turtle from predators. As Christians we also have an armour of protection — the armour of God. This is so that when the day of evil comes we will be able to stand our ground and be a shining light. But we must first put aside the deeds of darkness before we can put on the full armour of God.
"The night is nearly over;
the day is almost here.
So let us put aside the deeds of darkness
and put on the armour of light."
Romans 13:12 (NIV)
"Therefore put on the full armour of God,
so that when the day of evil comes,
you may be able to stand your ground,
and after you have done everything,
to stand."
Ephesians 6:13 (NIV)
