Who Rides Through The Deserts

The Grand Canyon was a shock to see! I expected it to be . . . well . . . big, but never expected it to be enormous! The pictures I took of the Grand Canyon do not do it justice, but here are a few anyways.

Brian and I walked twelves miles along the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. It was a beautiful day — warm and sunny with a gentle breeze.

I was delighted to see that the majestic Grand Canyon displayed a bronze plaque with a Scripture verse on it, giving glory to God. Apparently there are three of these Biblical plaques in the Grand Canyon, each one inscribed with a passage from Psalms. These plaques were put in place 43 years ago by a religious group, but, disturbingly, ten years ago, they were removed after a query from an American Civil Liberties Union. However, Donald Murphy, the deputy director of the National Park Service, ordered them back, and today they still remain. Praise God! Here they are:

"All the earth will worship You,
And will sing praises to You;
They will sing praises to Your Name.
Psalm 66:4 (NAS)

"Sing to God,
sing praises to His Name;
Lift up a song for Him
who rides through the deserts,
Whose Name is the Lord,
and exult before Him."
Psalm 68:4 (NAS)

"O Lord,
how many are Your works!
In wisdom You have made them all;
The earth is full of Your possessions."
Psalm 104:24 (NAS)
