As For Me, I Will Call Upon The Lord

Even though Brian and I drove all day to Cody, Wyoming, we weren't too tired to not go to the rodeo in the evening.

Cody, Wyoming is the rodeo capital of the world.

Before the rodeo began, a cowgirl on a horse sang the National Anthem, while everyone stood up and placed their right hand on their heart.

Then all the cowgirls of the rodeo entered, each carrying an American flag.

I enjoyed watching how fast a cowboy can rope a calf.

The rodeo clown was also very entertaining. His older brother is a brain surgeon, but he said he had the more important job. How true! Many lives each night depend on the clown to protect the bull and bronco riders from being attacked from an angry bull or horse once they are off. But to my surprise, before the rodeo began, the announcer asked for everyone to bow their heads in prayer while he prayed to God for the safety of all the participants, ending the prayer in the Name of Jesus. Praise God! The announcer made sure everyone knew who he prayed to and placed his trust in God's Word.

"As for me,
I shall call upon God,
and the Lord will save me."
Psalm 55:16 (NASB)

No one got hurt that night, even though at the end, one clown mistakenly turned his back when he saw the last bull head towards the coral. He wasn't prepared when the bull abruptly turned around and charged at his backside. However, the clown must have sensed something was wrong, and turned around in time to escape injury at the last second. If the announcer had not prayed, I believe that clown would have been seriously injured.
