He Makes Me Lie Down

When my sons and I were visiting my in-laws in Logan Lake, I noticed this deer lying in the coolness of a tree's shade in a neighbour's yard across the street.

"He makes me lie down

in green pastures."

Psalm 23:2a (NIV)

As we were leaving Logan Lake, I spotted another deer feeding contentedly alongside the road.

My dogs looked on with curiosity.

The deer looked back.

Then she continued to eat the grass God had provided for her since the beginning of creation.

"And to all the beasts of the earth

and all the birds in the sky

and all the creatures

that move along the ground —

everything that has the breath of life in it —

I give every green plant for food.

And it was so."
