Power and Freedom Were Lost Through Sin, But Regained Through Prayer

The Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon Samson and he led Israel for twenty years. However, when Samson sinned against God, the Lord left him.

"He awoke from his sleep and thought,
'I'll go out as before
and shake myself free.'
But he did not know
that the Lord had left him."
Judges 16:20 (NIV)

But later when Samson prayed earnestly to God, the Lord came back to him.

"Then Samson prayed to the Lord,
'Sovereign Lord,
remember me.
Please, God, strengthen me
just once more.'"
Judges 16:28 (NIV)

Though Samson died in darkness, bound in shackles with his enemies by his side, the light of God's presence was with him and he was set free.

Sin robbed Samson of his power and freedom, but through prayer Samson's power and freedom were regained.
