Sin Destroys Both Future And History

When most people think about Samson in the Bible, they think of his amazing physical strength that was taken away from him because of dismaying spiritual weakness.

What we don't remember or overlook in Scripture is Samson successfully led Israel for twenty years before he fell into temptation of sexual immorality with first a prostitute and then Delilah.

"Samson led Israel
for twenty years

in the days of the Philistines.
Judges 15:20 (NIV)

Twenty years of Samson's life as leader is ignored, but his stupidity with Delilah is remembered. It is sad how twenty years can go down the drain so quickly by sin.

"Do not be deceived:
God cannot be mocked.
A man reaps what he sows.
Whoever sows to please their flesh,
from the flesh will reap destruction;
whoever sows to please the Spirit,
from the Spirit will reap eternal life."
Galatians 6:7-8 (NIV)

Sin destroys both a person's future and history, but thank goodness his/her repentance can change where they spend eternity.
