The Mountains And The Heavens Declare God's Many Attributes

Here are some of the pictures my husband took from the aircraft as we left the Talkeetna airport to view Mount McKinley, or "Denali," which is the Alaskan preferred name; it means, "The High One," in the Athabaskan language.

The colours of autumn in the Denali Wilderness are vibrantly visible from on high.

Here is a higher view of some of the many rivers and lakes in the Denali valley. They are fed by the glaciers in the white mountains ahead.

As the plane approached the mountain ranges in the Denali Wilderness, I became eager with excitement.

At the same time, I was awestruck at being above the wilderness, at cloud level and mountain top height. Scripture tells us that God's unfailing love is as vast as the heavens, and His faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds.

"Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds."
Psalm 36:5 (NLT)

When we reached the Denali mountain ranges, the scenery was breathtaking, for it was more beautiful than I imagined. The mountain tips were not entirely covered in snow as I expected. Instead, bare sections of rock were exposed, revealing sharp edges of the mountain's ruggedness.

The fall wonderland of Denali Wilderness became a winter wonderland.

The first glacier we sighted looked more like a snow-covered road carved in the rocks.

The Bible states that God's righteousness is like the mighty mountains that reach to the highest heavens.

"Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains."
Psalm 36:61a (NLT)

"Your righteousness, O God,
reaches to the highest heavens.
You have done such wonderful things.
Who can compare with you, O God?"
Psalm 71:19 (NLT)

Here are two of the many glaciers, seen side-by-side.

The glaciers twist and turn through the mountain ranges like roads in BC.

The stripes in the glaciers depict an environmental story the way tree rings do.

And just as the heavens are higher than the earth, God's ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts.

"For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so My ways are higher than your ways
and My thoughts higher than your thoughts."
Isaiah 55:9 (NLT)

I discovered first-hand that the mountains and the heavens all declare the vastness and height of God's amazing attributes: His unfailing love, His faithfulness, His righteousness, and all His ways and thoughts!
