Continue To Serve Others Even When We're Suffering

"And since I, your Lord and Teacher,
have washed your feet,
you ought to wash each other's feet.
I have given you an example to follow.
Do as I have done to you.
I tell you the truth,
slaves are not greater than their master.
Nor is the messenger more important
than the one who sends the message.
Now that you know these things,
God will bless you for doing them."
John 13:14-17 (NLT)

We are called by God to serve others, not to be served. When we serve others, we are being like Jesus who was the greatest Servant of all! When Jesus took off His robe and got down on His knees to wash His disciples' feet, it was during a time most people would have been more focused on themselves rather than others because Jesus was about to suffer a tortuous death. In other words, we are to be a servant to others during our most troubled times as well as good times. If we do, God promises to bless us!
