Follow The Lord With All Your Heart And With All Your Soul

By the time Josiah became king of Judah, the Jewish people had long forgotten God. They had embraced the cultist practices of the Canaanites and Assyrians, worshiping idols and practicing sorcery. Even Josiah's father, who was king before him, did not follow God. But Josiah was different — very different! Before a nation of godless people, Josiah stood strong for the principles of God. He went up against the powerful current and intercepted its course of destruction, thus saving lives.

"The King stood by the pillar
and renewed the covenant
in the presence of the Lord —
to follow the Lord
and keep His commands, statutes, and decrees
with all his heart and all his soul,
thus confirming the words of the covenant written in this book.
Then all the people pledged themselves to the covenant."
2 Kings 23:3 (NIV)

Like Josiah, we too must go against the catastrophical flow of society and stand strong against the forceful current, following the Lord with all our hearts and with all our souls, keeping His commands, statutes, and decrees.
