It Is Not The Church Building That Is To Be A Witness, But The People Inside

This Sunday, my church is having a neighbourhood barbecue in their parking lot. Flyers are being handed out door-to-door this week, and a sign has been posted out front of the church.

Yesterday and today, my son Matthew and I made Bible activity booklets for the children of families who attend. I am also giving out a small package of crayons with each booklet.

The Bible says that God's Church is to go beyond the walls of its building and preach the gospel to all people. This is not just referring to churches sending out a few members of their congregation to foreign countries overseas. This command means that God's people, not pretty church buildings, are to be a witness and a light to all those outside. These are their neighbours!

"He said to them,
'Go into all the world
and preach the gospel
to all creation.'"
Mark 16:15 (NIV)
