God's Love Endures Forever

A few years ago, I met an older lady who at the time, although retired, kindly worked voluntarily at a nursing home. She told me the story of a man whose wife was in the later stages of Alzheimer's. It had been many years since, sadly, he had had to place her in the nursing home. But even though she was no longer able to recognize him, he lovingly visited her every day to have lunch with her.

The man told the lady that many of his friends questioned his devotion to his wife. His response to them was always the same: "She may not remember, but I do." When the lady told me this story, tears ran down my cheek. This man obviously had Christ's love in him.

The Bible tells us that husbands are to love their wives, and wives are to love their husbands, just as Christ loves each one of us. And God's love is so great! that He was willing to give Himself up for each of us. Being faithful to a sick wife or husband who needs care is really not much compared to what God did for us.

"Husbands, love your wives,
just as Christ loved the church
and gave Himself up for her."
Ephesians 5:25 (NIV)

It is wonderful to know that God doesn't turn his back on us if we become old, disabled, disfigured, brain-damaged, or terminally ill. He will never suddenly view us as unworthy of His love.

God's love endures forever! Praise His precious Name!

"Give thanks to the Lord,
for He is good;
His love endures forever."
1 Chronicles 16:34 (NIV)
