The Waters, The Mountains, And The Trees

My sons and I took an afternoon off VBS last week and went swimming in Kalamalka Lake near Vernon, BC. It was a beautiful day! The water was cool and fresh, the sky was blue and clear above, and the air was warm and breezy.

God blessed us with quiet waters to rejuvenate our souls.

"He leads me beside
quiet waters."
Psalm 23:2b (NIV)

The mountains surrounding the lake were a reminder of God's unfailing love and everlasting peace.

"Though the mountains be shaken
and the hills be removed,
yet My unfailing love for you
will not be shaken
nor My covenant of peace be removed,"
says the Lord,
who has compassion on you."
Isaiah 54:10 (NIV)

The trees planted by the water were a reminder to never to worry even in a year of drought. We will continue to bear fruit because our roots have access to a never-ending supply of God's life-giving stream of love and providence.

"They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit."
Jeremiah 17:8 (NIV)
