As One Speaks To A Friend

In the Old Testament God may come across to some as a tyrant at times, but he is far from that! God is a holy and just God; therefore He cannot tolerate any kind of evil. If He did, then He wouldn't be the kind of God we would want to serve.

Moses who knew God the best, said that when he went inside the Tent of Meeting to meet with God, God would speak to him face to face as one speaks to a friend.

"Inside the Tent of Meeting,
the Lord would speak to Moses
face to face,
as one speaks to a friend."
Exodus 33:11 (NIV)

God is and will always be our Friend if our heart's desire is to follow Him. If we do wrong and repent, God readily forgives us, but just like the Israelites, we must decide if we are for God or against Him.

And those who are for God will live forever in His love and blessings, but those who are against Him, will die.

"So he stood at the entrance to the camp and said,
'Whoever is for the Lord, come to me.'
Exodus 32:26a (NIV)
