At the Door Of Christ's Return

This is a Fennec Fox at the Edmonton Valley Zoo. He paid absolutely no attention to me or my two sons whatsoever, even when I tried to call him. He was too transfixed on the door of his kennel, waiting for the one he loved to open it and come through. Fennec Foxes can be delightful house pets, and this one was obviously a beloved pet to a certain zookeeper.

Seeing this Fennec Fox waiting eagerly for the return of his caretaker, who is behind a closed door, reminds me that, as God's children, we too should be waiting eagerly for His return. Jesus Christ is behind a door, but we know quite well that at any moment He will come through that door, like a thief in the night, and gather together all those who are called by His Name to be with Him for eternity.

"For you know quite well
that the day of the Lord's return
will come unexpectedly,
like a thief in the night."
1 Thessalonians 5:2 (NLT)

Are we waiting and ready at the door of Christ's return?
