This is a Kookaburra at the Edmonton Valley Zoo. Kookaburras live in Australia and New Guinea. Their call sounds much like the hysterical laughing of a human. That is why this bird is often called a Laughing Kookaburra.
It is interesting that God would create a bird that laughs. How God must love the sound of laugher! The bible says that is He who fills our mouths with laughter and our lips with shouts of joy.
"He will once again
fill your mouth with laughter
and your lips with shouts of joy."
