I Want To Be A Star

Three of my sons and I were in the children's Christmas musical and drama last year. Daniel was in Egypt at the time. My three sons played a band called the Manger Boys. Tim was the singer. Matthew was the bass guitar player, using a mop and bucket, and Chris was the cajon player. Tim, Chris and Matthew then had to quickly change because two of them were shepherds and one was a wise man in the manger scene afterwards. I was one of the main actors in the drama and it was such a pleasure to work with the other actors. The practices were so much fun!

For two nights, my sons got to look like famous rock stars. However, as servants of God, my sons' desires are not to be stars, but to lead others to the Star, the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible actually refers to Jesus as a "Star".

"A Star will come out of Jacob; a scepter will rise out of Israel."
Numbers 24:17b

Chris as one of the wise men:

The Bible says that we should have no other gods, but God alone. Therefore, it is wrong to present yourself as an idol for others to worship. If you do so, pride will set in and you will falter because of your humanity. Therefore, many will be disappointed, causing some to even fall away from their faith. God is the only one who is worthy of people's worship. He is perfect and He will never disillusion. We need to lead others to God, not allow ourselves to become gods to others for them to idolize and worship. All our talents and all our gifts come from the One who created us.

"You shall have no other gods before me."
Exodus 20:3
