The Excitement of Fishing

My youngest son, Matthew, caught his very first fish at my brothers' lake front property. It was just a tiny fish, but Matthew didn't know that because no one else caught a fish. Therefore, there was no other fish for him to compare it to. Matthew was absolutely delighted and very proud of his catch; so I took a picture of him and his fish.

Matthew and his first fish:

When we compare ourselves to others, we become discontented and jealous. We then consequently rob ourselves of happiness.

"For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find
disorder and every evil practise."
 James 3:16

Enjoy the blessings God has given you! Don't look around to see what others have. You will appreciate what you have so much more.

Matthew continued to enjoy fishing as he got older, and the fish he caught increased in size!

Matthew catches a trout:

Matthew actually catches three trout that day:

How much fun Matthew would have missed out it he had gotten discouraged the first time he fished? He might not have continued to fish later in life and enjoy one of life's blessings.

Believe it or not, I like to fish too!
